Girl Eating an Apple

As we begin a new calendar year, it is a good time to reflect on the year that has passed, and plan for the year ahead. New year's resolutions are usually forgotten soon after they are made, but there is never a bad time to look at our lives and make a plan for improvement.

What will your plans include? Perhaps you might want to think about how to improve your grades, how to make sure you are always on time for school, how to get more sleep or how to improve your physical health. You may also want to think about starting a kindness revolution in our school, one kind act at a time! You also might be thinking that this year you want to make new friends, or be a better friend to those you already know.

Whatever you want to do, you can do it! It takes a little planning, a lot of perseverance, and a positive attitude. You may not be 100% successful right from the start, but if you don't give up on yourself, even when you slip back into those old habits, then in a few weeks you will see that your new behavior starts to feel more comfortable. Once you develop a new habit, then it will be easier to continue it.

Changing your way of thinking and doing is a challenge, but the reward can be well worth the hard work! If you need some help with incorporating a new behavior into your routine, your school counselor can help! Contact us for assistance.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
